our new son

Never in a million years did I think I would make this announcement today, but it is our pleasure to introduce our newest son, Kaedmon Gatliff King, to each of you. He entered the world as feisty as his big brother Sammy at 2:35 p.m., weighing 7 lbs. 15 oz and with a length of 19 3/4 inches. He is by far our shortest baby!!! He is getting his first bath as we speak and his brothers are on their way to visit. They spent the afternoon making cupcakes for their little brother to celebrate his birthday. I can’t wait to introduce them.

More to come…

And, today:

My boy is so big- 4 years old! I honestly cannot believe it. I really do feel like he was just born. Sammy came into the world unlike his other two brothers- early! This should have been clear indication that all other moments from that point on would take place in the same way- on his schedule!

Sammy has always been a challenge for us. He is spunky, loud, and a little wild. He tends to be our screamer and he resists our authority more so than his brothers ever have. I am convinced he is hard-of-hearing (even though his audiologist has repeatedly told us that isn’t the case) and he can’t sit still more than a few seconds.

But he is so precious to me. Sammy has a charm about him and a smile that his Mama has never been good at resisting (maybe that’s the problem?) When he decides to chill out, he can most often be found singing by himself in the most beautiful little voice you have ever heard or sitting on Mommy’s lap sucking his thumb (we’re working on it).

I just love this little boy beyond words. I know many parents cannot see what I see because all they see is his wrecking ball mentality, but this precious little man really has a heart of gold.

Sammy also holds a special place in our hearts as he often reminds us of God’s sovereign work in our lives- as we would have never chosen to conceive a second child only 3 months following the birth of Noah. I am often brought to tears by God’s goodness and what a blessing Sammy has been to our family. It truly would not be the same without him!

I interviewed him today, for his baby book. It was hard to keep him still and he didn’t want to answer many of my questions, but here is what I got:

  1. What is your favorite color? Red.
  2. Favorite movie? Thomas and VeggieTales.
  3. Who is your favorite superhero? Bouncing Boy. (Actually, he calls him Jumping Boy and he probably isn’t his favorite. Bouncing Boy is actually the Happy Meal toy he got last night at McDonalds and he is obsessed at the moment.
  4. Favorite Book? Little Quack’s Bedtime.
  5. Favorite Cake? We never got an answer. He was far too overwhelmed as there were far too many choices!
  6. Favorite toy? LarryBoy.
  7. Favorite part of being 4 so far? Eating cake.
  8. Favorite thing to do outside? Play on the tire swings in New Mexico. Poor guy. That won’t be happening again any time soon.
  9. Favorite Song? Larryboy Theme Song.
  10. Favorite Sport? Baseball. What? I don’t think he’s ever even playing baseball.
  11. Favorite food? Cucumbers and Candy.

The Birthday Boy!

A day in the life of a one year old:

Birthday breakfast! I had waffles (with a little syrup!!!)

Off to my hearing test:

I’m giving second thoughts to this audiologist dude…his mustache is very interesting, however…

Nah…I do not like him! He said I have lots of middle ear fluid. What’s middle ear fluid? I am telling mom about it on the way home (facing foward, mind you!)

Ok…now I am much happier! I have had my nap, been fed, had a bath, and am on my way to church. Mom said something about cake. I don’t know what that means, but my brothers thought it sounded like a great idea!

Oh yeah! Cake is great stuff!

Umm…where did the cake go? I want more cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok…time passes and the cake incident is over. Now back in the arms of the woman I love most…

At last, bedtime…my favorite time of the day. Mom says I am the dream sleep baby=)

P.S. Mom said if any of the landscape- type photos don’t fit onto the screen, she is sorry. She just can’t seem to fix it. Maybe someone could help her. She mentioned some girl. Mom said she was a computer genius and her name, I think, started with Ka and ended with cie *wink wink*

One!

Can it be? My lil man is one! This time last year Simon Truett made his arrival. If I think back to what was happening at exactly this moment last year (remembering that I was 2 hours ahead of what I am now) the time was 4:05p.m. If I remember correctly my blood pressure was probably somewhere around 90/40 and I was having a major panic attack (stupid epi). However, it was all worth it when at 5:17p.m. after 2 pushes Simon found his way into our arms and hearts at a whopping 8 pounds 9 ounces (I know I have nothing on you, Annalee!)

Today is a sorta laid back day. He is getting over a cold and we head up to Denver tomorrow to catch our flight so I am packing as well. We are going to put off a party for now. He will get cake at church tonight but that is about it. We will probably do something more formal in Kentucky=)

Praise God for the blessing of sweet babies and how thankful I am that God saw fit to entrust to me such a sweet (yet disobedient) little man! It reminds me of the constant need to always abide in the Lord and seek His face regarding every little thing I do. The kiddos are always watching!

Will post photos from today later on!

I got a job!

Not that I wasn’t content with the one I was doing LOL, but I will be working one day a week, Friday, at Curves- where I work out! I am so excited. I will work 6a.m.- 1p.m. so I will be working about 2 hours while everyone is still asleep and be done by the boys naps! Praise the Lord! We needed this so much but David didn’t really want me working- for many reasons. But this fit perfectly! Yay for God who is the giver of all good things and always knows what’s best!!! Glory to Him!

Praise, prayer, both…

I got some news from my dad a little while ago. They are fairly certain my mom’s cancer is confined to her leg! Most of her internal organs are clear and her bone scan came back normal. She has a PET scan tomorrow (brain) so we’ll see what that says soon.

Surgery is to follow and then she will begin interferon treatments.

Keep praying!

Our Home

Sometimes blessings come in small packages. However, at other times, they come in large packages. Very large ones. We are very blessed to be in a magnificent home. We are welcome to stay here until it sells…and it’s been on the market over 3 years I think. It is such a blessing to us.

Until recently, we had not utilized many of its amenities, mostly due to budget and time. But lately, we have discovered so many fun extras in this house…especially in the loft. We have a jacuzzi and a steam room! I have been enjoying these things so much. The steamer is awesome for my skin LOL!

I thought I would share our home with ya’ll. Here it is!

We better enjoy it! I doubt we will ever have a home like this again!

May I Have Your Attention, Kentuckians?

Woo hoo! Only a few more weeks til our KY visit! We are ecstatic!

Oh yeah…the reason I’m writing is…we would love to see as many of you as possible. However, due to the amount of travel we will have already done by the time we get to the Bluegrass State, we will be spending most of our time in western KY and about 3 days in Louisville (provided we find somewhere to stay). If anyone knows of anything going on during that time or something fun that we could do together, we would love to work out the details now so we can plan accordingly.

For the seminary girls, there isn’t Pendergraph that week, is there? I would love to go to Pendergraph!!!

Just let me know. We are super excited!!!

Praise…and a major request!

My praise is that I had my echocardiogram today and the leaking in my tricuspid valve that I had in college is GONE! Praise the Lord! He is the God of healing and I am rejoicing over this great report=)

However, my mom needs your prayers. Her cancer is back. It is now in a mole right next to where the melanoma was before. Because it is right on her shin bone, they feel sure that it has probably spread into her bones. That is bad. Really bad. However, God is above medicine and a doctor’s opinion, etc…He can do whatever he wants! Please pray for her biopsy tomorrow. They have told her that it will probably be more painful than her last biopsy because it is on the bone. Please pray that God’s will is done in my mom’s life.
