May I suggest Lift Up the Name from Harvest Bible Chapel. Their pastor, James MacDonald is one of the leaders of The Gospel Coalition, if I’m not mistaken. We sing some of their songs at our new church and they are gospel-centered and beautiful! You can go to Harvest Songs here. Click on Lift Up the Name. From there you can sample each song. My favorites: The New Song We Sing, O The Love Of My Redeemer, He is My Fortress, and Revelation Song. They are all great, however. You can also check out Meredith Andrews, who sings some of the songs on the CD.

Slugs, Bugs, and Lullabies
A friend recently sent us a copy of Andrew Peterson’s Slugs, Bugs, & Lullabies. The boys love it and I highly recommend it. Their favorites: God Made Me and Bears.
Sacred
Heard me a song this afternoon that absolutely kicked me in my Mommy butt.
The lyrics:
this house is a good mess
it’s the proof of life
no way would I trade jobs
but it don’t pay overtime
I’ll get to the laundry
I don’t know when
I’m saying a prayer tonight
cause tomorrow it starts again
could it be that everything is sacred?
and all this time
everything I’ve dreamed of
has been right before my eyes
the children are sleeping
but they’re running through my mind
the sun makes them happy
and the music makes them unwind
my cup runneth over
and I worry about the stain
teach me to run to You
like they run to me for every little thing
when I forget to drink from you
I can feel the banks harden
Lord, make me like a stream
to feed the garden
wake up, little sleeper
the Lord, God Almighty
made your Mama keeper
so rise and shine
rise and shine cause
everything is sacred
and all this time
everything I’ve dreamed of
has been right before my eyes
Slow Fade
Casting Crowns has released their newest video, Slow Fade. It has been one of my favorite songs off of The Altar and The Door since purchasing the album. This is a really great video that I wish the whole world would see.
great running song
It is so hard for me to find music that I enjoy running to. For David, it is easy: the faster the better. Fast isn’t exactly what makes a song great for running in my opinion. Sure- fast is great, but I need music that motivates me and gives me a reason to keep running. Lately, I have been choosing music that reminds me of my sheer nothingness without Jesus Christ. I love to run meditating on the work of Jesus on the cross and the hope that that gives us. Lately I have found myself praying often:
Thank you, Jesus, for dying on the cross, and for all that means!
Doesn’t it mean everything? I know I am guilty of making methods, issues, and other silly things more important than the Gospel… and shame on me! The atoning work of Christ on the cross should be what drives us, motivates us, dictates our lives! All the other things that I like to dwell on, think about, talk about, should come in a far and distant second place!
Here is my latest favorite running song:
I come into Your presence
With nothing in my hands
I only bring thanksgiving
For Jesus, God and Man
I cast myself on mercy
I cast myself on love
I trust Your gracious promise
To wash me with Your blood
I will not fear Your judgment
For me no wrath I dread
For it was spent on Jesus
Poured out upon His head
When Satan’s accusations
Make my poor heart afraid
I hear my King declaring
“Father, that debt is paid!”
Jesus my only hope
My only plea
My righteousness
My Great High Priest
Who intercedes for me
Before the throne
Jesus, I trust in You alone
Though I am poor and naked
Your prodigal come home
You place Your robe upon me
Your holiness alone
Though I be dry and barren
By grace this love springs forth
Love for You and Your Kingdom
Joy in Your glory, Lord
But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Galatians 6:14

My favorite song: There is A Redeemer. The lyrics:
There is a Redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son,
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy one.
Jesus my Redeemer,
Name above all names,
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Oh, for sinners slain.
Thank you oh my Father,
For giving us your Son,
And leaving your Spirit,
til the work on earth is done.
When I stand in glory,
I will see His face,
And there Ill serve my King forever,
In that holy place.
Thank you oh my Father,
For giving us your Son,
And leaving Your Spirit,
til the work on earth is done.
There is a Redeemer,
Jesus, God’s own Son,
Precious Lamb of God, Messiah,
Holy One,
Thank You oh my Father,
For giving us Your Son,
And leaving Your spirit,
til the work on earth is done.
oh, wow, and another…
Ok. I am on a YouTube kick. Grab your tissues for this one.
Great song!
I cannot seem to figure out how to post a YouTube video to my site (even though I have done it before?) so here is the link to a song I wanted to share.
Leeland
I’m all about the music lately. David introduced me to a new band a while back, Leeland, and they are really great. They are so talented and they have such a heart for sharing truth with the world. My favorite song is titled Tears of the Saints. I wanted to share the lyrics with you. The words, together with the melody, really strike the heart and stress to believers the urgency of reaching and ministering to those around us:
There are many prodigal sons
On our city streets they run
Searching for shelter
There are homes broken down
People’s hopes have fallen to the ground
From failures
This is an emergency!
There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
There are schools full of hatred
Even churches have forsaken
Love and mercy
May we see this generation
In it’s state of desperation
For Your glory
This is an emergency!
There are tears from the saints
For the lost and unsaved
We’re crying for them come back home
We’re crying for them come back home
And all your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!
Sinner, reach out your hands!
Children in Christ you stand!
And all Your children will stretch out their hands
And pick up the crippled man
Father, we will lead them home
Father, we will lead them home
Billy and Cindy Foote
David and I were able to attend the Statewide Evangelism Conference for the Baptist Convention of New Mexico earlier this week and we were so blessed by the music of Billy and Cindy Foote. Billy has written many worship songs that I am quite sure you have sung in your churches, including You Are My King (Amazing Love) and You Are God Alone (Not A God).
Their rich and powerful lyrics have transformed my heart and have at many times taken me straight into the presence of the Lord. I hope you will sample some of their music and enjoy it the way we have!
Might I suggest a few of my favorite songs?
I Have A River
Sing To The King
Set Free
My Faith Has Found A Resting Place
If I Say I Love You
Enjoy!!!
P.S. The Foote’s are in the early stages of adopting a little girl from Ethiopia. Here is their adoption blog!
