Happy New Year!

2009

We made some yummy 2009 french toast this morning! That was interesting. No one wants that much powdered sugar on their french toast. Ok- maybe they do- but I don’t. After I finally got all the toast sugared, it was cold and had to be reheated. We also scraped off most of the sugar. The kids enjoyed it, however, and it was a fun memory.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Merry Christmas

Labor of Love

It was not a silent night
There was blood on the ground
You could hear a woman cry
In the alleyways that night
On the streets of David’s town

And the stable was not clean
And the cobblestones were cold
And little Mary full of grace
With the tears upon her face
Had no mother’s hand to hold

It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love

Noble Joseph at her side
Callused hands and weary eyes
There were no midwives to be found
In the streets of David’s town
In the middle of the night

So he held her and he prayed
Shafts of moonlight on his face
But the baby in her womb
He was the maker of the moon
He was the Author of the faith
That could make the mountains move

It was a labor of pain
It was a cold sky above
But for the girl on the ground in the dark
With every beat of her beautiful heart
It was a labor of love
For little Mary full of grace
With the tears upon her face
It was a labor of love

advent, night 1

We started the boy’s first Advent celebration this evening. We are doing a Jesse Tree, which was recommended by Kacie.

I certainly learned how to plan better for tomorrow (i.e. not letting them color until we have done our reading) but they seemed to really understand the point that we were trying to draw out from Isaiah. I can’t wait until tomorrow, which will have to be done early because David is working evenings now.

decorating

We decorated the tree today. Simon slept, but Noah and Sammy really enjoyed taking part. Some photos from our day:

P.S. I either own a really cruddy camera or I will never learn how to use it. The quality stinks- sorry!

advent

This year I had the opportunity to write for the Advent booklet for the college that I attended. Here it is if you want to take a look. I wrote the devotional for December 4 (Sammy’s birthday LOL!)

Happy Valentine’s Day

I hope everybody has a great one!

Today is a crazy day. Simon has therapy (speech, not psycho) this morning and later today, Lord willing (no snow! no snow! no snow! say it with me!), we are headed to Colorado Springs this evening.

A picture to make you smile: my lil’ Valentine’s (minus one):
