Hooray! I heard I should be drinking half my body weight in water…and I did it!
70 oz. of water later, at 7:02 p.m., I did it! I hope it all filters through before bedtime=)
And now I am off to watch The Biggest Loser…our favorite!

A week or so ago, I got an email from Facebook. It said:
“Thanks for taking the FilterForGood pledge on Facebook! I’m contacting you on behalf of Brita to let you know you’ve won a FilterForGood prize pack. If you’ll send me your mailing address, we’ll send the package to you soon. Congrats, and thank you for making the commitment to make a difference by giving up bottled water!”
I hesitated to send them our mailing address. I was so worried it was a scam. I googled the lady’s name who sent the email and looked up Brita’s FilterForGood website. Sure enough, everything checked out. I sent our mailing address back and looked what showed up today:
Woohoo! I am glad we have stuck to the pledge (almost 100% of the time) or I would have felt so bad for accepting the prize package. Sign up for the FilterForGood pledge! The prize packs are valued at $100 and David and I are still on cloud nine. We had both lost our old Nalgene bottles.
P.S. They also sent a $5 off coupon for a Brita pitcher. I would be glad to send it to anyone who wants it. That’s a great coupon!
Please remember my little man this morning. We are going in to the doctor at 10:45 because since yesterday one of Simon’s earlobes has been swollen two times the size of the other one. It has some scabs on it so we are a little concerned something bit him. Our biggest concern: that something is in his ear. Please say a little prayer for him this morning!
UPDATE:
Thankfully, Simon just had some type of reaction to either an allergen or a bite. He was in the yard with David a lot of Saturday so his doctor seems to think that is the culprit. A few days of medicine and he should be tops again.
Thanks!
Found this on MSN this morning. Comforting, huh? Especially when I was put Advair- during this pregnancy!
I’ve been on a gym hiatus since morning sickness hit in June. David forced- I mean- encouraged me to head back this morning going three times a week (I used to go five) from now on.
It. Was. Painful. I was only on the treadmill for 20 minutes before I had to get off because the ligaments in my tummy were throbbing with every stride. I haven’t been in gym clothes for so long that I had no idea my “muffin top” was back (if you don’t know what a muffin top is I am not telling you) and, to put it lightly, I have lost most of the muscle tone in my arms and legs.
How depressing. It did feel good, however, to be up early again. It has been a while since my kids haven’t woken me up. I am kind of embarrassed to admit that, but I have been exhausted with this pregnancy.
So, hopefully, here’s to a new routine that I know will be good for me- if I can just stick with it!
that my husband has been at church…and the rest of us have been home.
Today’s diagnosis: pinkeye. You were right, Marlene.
Something else is up with Noah, however. I believe the boys have pinkeye, but Noah also has a 102 degree fever and is pitifully lethargic. When you ask him what is wrong he says “my tongue” or “my mouth”. That is what he has said every single time he has had strep throat.
The doctor refused to see him today for a strep swab (don’t get me started on how I oftentimes feel about the medical community). A strep swab takes 5 minutes and could have ensured that he be on antibiotics TODAY and not have to wait another 24 hours.
Why is this so important, you ask? I love my children and of course I place their health above any of my own desires. However, their father and I were going to be going away on our first weekend alone in almost 6 months this weekend and now I can hardly see that happening. If the boys would have had a few day’s worth of antibiotics in their bodies then they would have no longer been contagious and it wouldn’t have been an issue for the sitter, but now I hardly see that being the case. I guess we’ll expect a miracle, but prepare for reality. I know I sound like I am overreacting, but David is very upset about this (he has been very stressed lately and greatly wanted a weekend away alone) and I am sad too=(
Well alright, since I have seriously bummed out all who have laid eyes on this post, I shall conclude. Please be in prayer for us, however, as times are stressful and sickly right now.
Am I the only one who seriously takes her family’s health for granted?
Since Sunday, we have been plagued by some sort of weird puking/yellow gunk in the eyes/fever thing. It is probably two separate bugs that we have caught simultaneously. Yuck!
Anyway, I was the lucky member of the family who got the absolute worst of the stomach bug. Between 5 p.m. and midnight on Monday I threw up at least 25-30 times. I know each of you wanted to know that=) Point being, I really take being healthy for granted. I am so thankful now that I am starting to feel better again. And this has served as an even greater reminder that when a Mom in playgroup says “We’ve been sick, but I think we’re over it…”, it’s better to be safe than sorry.
Yay for health and the end of illness. Praise the Lord!
Do any of you drink green tea? I am trying to add more “superfoods” into my diet and I hate green tea! How can I make it taste yummier? I’ve heard about honey, but honey isn’t my favorite taste in the world either!
HELP!
I am so pleased with our grocery store, Safeway. Over the last year or so, they have made it increasingly easier to shop organically. I am still trying to work meat and milk into our budget, but O Organics has made it possible for me to provide my family with organic fruits, veggies, grains, and yogurts. Hooray!
Okay…ever since I started running my metabolism has been out the roof. Seriously, it’s insane!
Here has been my day:
7:45 a.m.: toast with all-fruit jelly and 2 slices turkey bacon
9:00 a.m.: an orange
11 a.m.: 3 slices turkey breast
and I’m still hungry…
David says I need some protein. He wants me to have a glass of milk with a scoop of protein…yuck!!!
Sweets are my weakness. I ate probably 6 or 7 rice krispie treats yesterday…eek! To avoid the same problem today I honestly took the plate of brownies and threw them in the trash. It just wasn’t worth it. They were a few days old and getting hard, but I knew I would eat them if they stayed in the house. I am trying to work up the nerve to throw out the canister of rainbow chip frosting that’s in the fridge. A half-eaten canister of frosting is my numero uno weakness in life. I cannot, however, allow myself to indulge when I know the calories for what you get is almost laughable. And don’t get me started on the trans fats that I can’t believe Betty Crocker still puts in there! Can you tell I have been watching The Biggest Loser?
Oh…Biggest Loser watchers: do you know how the trainers always make the contestants sprint til they think they are going to die…and then stop? I tried it today after my normal training session and I was ready to drop! My lungs were burning and I could barely get a breath, but it was so worth it! I feel great today and I can tell my metabolism is really up! I had 10 minutes before I needed to head home so I did this:
Walk briskly for 1 minute
Jog for 1 minute
Sprint til you die for 30 seconds!
I think I did this 3 times and it came right out to 10 minutes.
Give it a try!
Ok, I am gonna go eat. Lunch is my indulgence today: leftover meat sauce! (Does it help that the garlic, olive oil, and pasta are organic? I didn’t think so either!) YUM!
FROSTING UPDATE: I threw it away, but not before I took a few (5) more spoonfuls *blush*. I’m so ashamed, but it’s gone now…and that’s all that matters.
