Vicks VapoRub phenomenon

Has anyone tried this:

Vicks VapoRub. On the feet. It sounds crazy, but nearly everyone I know that has tried it has said it is amazing. Your child (or you) is coughing. You put VapoRub on their feet and cover them with socks. Within 5 minutes, they stop coughing. And they don’t start again.

I feel bad, but I am kinda ready for one of the boys to get a cold so I can try it. Ok, maybe I could just wish illness on myself and try it that way.

Cows, Part II (LOL)

Today’s lunch is especially yummy. Anything is better than the turkey yucko lunch from yesterday. Today is a low fat flour tortilla with seasoned beef and a dab (again, I don’t know how much a dab is- it’s just a dab) of blended cheeses with salsa. I love quesadillas. I could live off of them!

Cows

Cows are yummy. I do believe they are my most favorite animal to eat. MMM…beef! Sorry to all my vegetarian friends.

Prayers for my mom…again

Her cancer is back for the 3rd time. They are getting aggressive this time around. She will probably be in Louisville within the next few weeks to have surgery. They are removing the cancer (like the always do) as well as all the lymph nodes in her legs and abdomen region. She has to have chemotherapy this time around as well. They will put a turnicate (sp?) on her leg and inject the chemo only into her leg. It is pretty aggressive and there are risks associated. Please be in prayer for my mom. This Christmas is sure to be a tough one for her this year.

Yet another reason

to get a 2nd opinion should a doctor ever tell you you need gallbladder surgery.

My lunch today:

1 slice bread
a couple slices smoked turkey breast
a dab (yes, a dab is a Mandy measurement) mozzarella cheese
another dab italian dressing
1 glass skim milk (with some strawberry syrup!)

All this equals about 200 calories and 3 grams of fat!

Can anyone feel my pain? And this is my life from here on out. I have to tell you the kids’ PB & J’s sure smelled good!

My once again warning: if you have gallbladder problems, there are alternatives to surgery. If you ever listen to anything I say listen to that!

Simon-ese

I love Simon! He is such a sweetie. He also speaks his own language. It’s a mix between a whine and serious curiousity. Every morning when I pick him up out of bed, I say “did you sleep well?” to which he replies “fjhdsfjklhfdjdfjhfdgjhfdgh?” LOL. Everything he says has a question mark at the end of it as his voice always goes up at the end of a sentence.

Oh, I just love him!

Packing and other thoughts

Everyone keeps asking us if we have packed yet. Packed? No we haven’t packed. We’re moving across town, not to another state. We are just gonna transport our belongings slowly from one house to another. But we are minimizing. My goal, since I am not packing, per se, is to eliminate any and all things that either 1. do not have a place or 2. we do not use anymore. Does that make sense? We have so much junk that I am more interested in being free of that junk than spending all my time packing and the junk coming with us. I know what you are probably thinking: can’t you just pack and discard as you pack? No! I can’t LOL. I have such a one-track mind that when you throw 3 children into the packing process of course I can’t do two things at once=)

Also, we are picking out some more paint colors today. I sincerely hope my very kind friend Emily doesn’t hate me, but we are gonna go find a living room color that is different than the one she picked out. I really like most of the colors, but there is a shade of blue that, no matter how hard I try, I just can’t like. So…we are going with red LOL. Kacie is laughing because she knows my taste. The dining room is a very pale green, called Loma Linda. The kitchen is a taupe-ish kind of brown. And the living room, provided that it looks good, will be called Arabesque. It is a very VERY dark red. I think it will look nice though because there is a lot of light in the room. The trim will be white. And we are going to bring in beige furniture (as money allows) that will lighten it up, as well as curtains and rugs. Does this make sense? I tend to ramble.

Ok, that’s all I’ve got right now. Except that last night I dreamed I was a contestant on The Biggest Loser. Jillian was my trainer and I was very skinny. Maybe it was the end of the season? Anyway, all I remember was Jillian sharing with me how bad she and her husband were trying to have a baby LOL. I must have eaten something real funky before bed last night.

Do cameras excite other families this way?

The King family has a new addition: a new camera! Our old one was way past its prime and the button to turn it on didn’t even work anymore! This one is by no means the at the top of the serious photographer’s list, but it is perfect for us and gave me the zoom and image stabilization that I was so badly wanting!

We were one excited family yesterday…seriously! Here is the proof:

A roast to die for.

My friend, Emily, made a beef roast last night that was absolutely heavenly! If you are interested, here is the recipe:

For a 2 1/2 pound roast:

2 (8oz.) cans tomato sauce
1 pkg.  dry italian dressing mix
1 small onion, chopped

Place roast in crock pot. Pour mixed ingredients over roast. Cook on high 1 hour. Cook on low for about 7 hours. Enjoy! David and I sure did enjoy dipping crusty french bread into the sauce!

My cell phone is under the weather.

Until further notice, my cell phone is broken. If you need to reach me our home phone remains the same. You can also get me on our other cell phone. The number is the same except the last number is a 6 instead of a 7.
