and it feels nice. I am hitting my own bed!
Mandy: “how do you think we should spell Daisy?” (our new puppy)
David: “Mandy, it’s a dog. It’ s not like we’re sending birth announcements.”
Dee (David’s mom), as David and I are leaving for David’s 10 year reunion: “Do you have your camera? Your cell phone?”
Jon (David’s brother): “It’s not the prom, Mom.”
David: “What are you eating for lunch?”
Mandy: “Leftover pizza.”
David: “My mom is getting lunchmeat.”
Mandy: “I don’t want lunchmeat.”
David: “Why not?”
Mandy: “Because it’s roast beef and it’s cold. That’s not even right. And what’s roast beef without gravy?”
Mandy, trying to pull David away from the TV: “Come on. We’re gonna eat…Wait a minute. Is that Care Bears?”
David, in a rather hypnotic state: “Shh…It’s almost over. I wanna see what happens with Dark Heart!”
I don’t know a lot about these artists but this song is so beautiful!

The King family vacation is coming to an end. The end of vacation is always bittersweet. In a sense, you are loving the time with family and friends that you have been waiting so long for, but at the same time you are beginning to feel like a nomad and the thought of making your own meals and putting your kiddos in their beds starts to sound wonderful! Does that make sense?
We have thoroughly enjoyed our time in Kentucky. There is so much to be said about being near to family. It really is (at the risk of sounding corny) like food to your soul. I know, however, that right now where we are is where God has us. And because we know it is His will for us to be 1100 miles from the nearest family member or friend we have, we know that it is good. Sometimes I wonder how many people miss out on God’s best for them because they are afraid or unwilling. So many in the ministry automatically assume that it will be God’s will for them to serve near their family and from the start rule out any alternatives. It is hard to be away from those we love, but God is good and everything He does is good! His way is always better than ours so we are just trusting in Him. And we have learned…loneliness is an awesome way to cultivate holiness in our lives.
So, as we enjoy this last day of vacation with those we love so much, we remember what we are called to do. And that makes goodbye OK. It is hard, it is very lonely, and sometimes it even seems unfair, but it is good because it is God’s best for us right now.
as you’ve never seen them before.
You knew it was a matter of time before it happened. Allow me to hopefully be the first to share with you:
Debit card Monopoly!
This is wild! I never thought I would see the day. But I would be lying if said that it wasn’t appealing to me in the slightest=)
yee haw!
this here lady went 4 wheelin with her hubby tonight and then i figured i’d shoot me here a big ol’ 12 gauge shot gun=)
ouch! me shoulder hurts!
I sure do love Kentucky. And I miss so much about it. But I do not miss allergies. I have been miserable almost the whole time we have been here!
New Mexico has it’s allergies, but nothing like this. I absolutely do not want to go back home yet, but at the same time, I will look forward a return to the mountains=)
So…I have finished my first installment in getting back to the basics=) I’ve got Zaccheus down to a fine art. Where? Jericho. What? Tax Collector. Tree? Sycamore. Gift? Salvation.
What next? I am thinking David and Goliath. The boys are sure to love it!
10 year reunions…
are fabulous! And I haven’t even been to my own.
David’s 10 year was this past weekend and I had a fantastic time! I just have this “life of the party” feel to me. I simply cannot help myself.
I immediately made friends with 5 or 6 girls while my husband and their hubbies were out having their 10 year photo taken. When he returned I said “I sure hope you were friends with their husbands…cause we aren’t moving!”
LOL.
The food was great, the people were great, and it was overall a wonderful night to get out for the first time in a long time.
I really wasn’t looking forward to my own, but now I really am. I realized from David’s reunion that by the time you have been out of high school for 10 years (and I pray this is the case with mine) there are no jocks, cheerleaders, band members, and otherwise. Everyone is equal and hopefully we have all grown up! At least that is what I am hoping for!
